RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency issued a notice of public hearing today related to the development of a proposed howitzer testing range in the Town of Lewis (P2021-0276). The first hearing session will take place on December 22nd, 2025 at 6:00 PM. It will be held at the Adirondack Park Agency Headquarters located at 1133 State Route 86 in Ray Brook, NY.
The public is invited to attend in person or remotely using the link and information provided in this release.
Administrative Law Judge David Greenwood will preside and establish a hearing schedule and rules for public participation. The dates of additional sessions will be posted on the Agency’s website.
The proposed project involves a request for a weapons range for testing the internal ballistics of 155 mm howitzer cannon barrels over a 5-year period. The Adirondack Park Agency Board voted to send the project to a hearing at its November 2025 board meeting.
